Kyboa calculates the credit cost of screenings involving multiple people or organisations according to the distinct parties screened.

The new rule is simple:

1 credit = 1 distinct person or organisation screened.

This per-party rule aligns Kyboa credit consumption with how underlying screening data providers charge for multi-party checks. Subscription prices, monthly credit allowances and prepaid package prices have not changed.

What has changed?

A company screening can include the company itself plus multiple directors, shareholders or other associated parties.

Credits for screening are based on the number of distinct real-world parties actually included.

  • An individual quick screening uses 1 credit.
  • A company name-only screening uses 1 credit.
  • A company plus four directors uses 5 credits.
  • A company plus four directors and three corporate shareholders uses 8 credits.

Only parties that are actually included in the screening consume credits.

Name variations are still included at no extra cost

The change applies to additional people and organisations, not additional names for the same party.

Aliases, translated names, local-language names, transliterations, trading names and previous names belonging to the same person or organisation remain included within the same credit.

For example, a company with an English name, a local-language registered name and three previous company names is still one organisation and uses one credit for that company.

The same applies to a director with both an English transliteration and a local-language name. That person is still one screening subject.

Why registry-enhanced screenings can use more credits

Registry-enhanced company screening can identify additional directors, officers, individual shareholders and corporate shareholders. Each distinct party that is screened can therefore increase the total credit usage.

The richer the available registry data, and the larger the company, the greater the potential number of screening subjects. A large company with a substantial list of directors, officers and shareholders may therefore use considerably more credits than a small company.

For a quick registry screening, the exact total cannot always be known before the registry lookup takes place because Kyboa does not yet know which associated parties the registry will return.

This is the trade-off for a broader screening that checks not only the company name but also relevant people and organisations connected to it.

Ways to manage credit usage

Use Screening Only when you only need the company name

If you want to minimise credit usage, the Screening Only option screens the company itself without adding registry-derived directors and shareholders. This remains a one-credit company screening.

Use Entities when you want control over the screening scope

For maintained Entities, Kyboa gives you more control over which associated parties are included.

You can review the directors, shareholders and related organisations attached to the Entity and enable or disable individual parties for screening. Before you run the screening, Kyboa shows the number of screening subjects and the total credits that will be consumed.

This can be useful where registry data contains a large number of associated parties but your risk-based process only requires particular people or organisations to be included.

Review the scope of monitored Entities

Scheduled monitoring uses the same per-party credit model as a manual Entity screening. The currently enabled people and organisations define the screening scope each time monitoring runs.

For Entities with many associated parties, it is therefore worth checking that the screening-enabled list reflects the people and organisations you actually intend to monitor.

Pricing and the current credit model

  • Subscription prices and monthly credit allowances are unchanged.
  • Prepaid credit pack prices and quantities are unchanged.
  • A one-person or company-name-only screening uses one credit.
  • Name variants belonging to the same person or organisation remain included at no additional credit cost.
  • Official Malaysia and Singapore company profile lookups use additional credits from the same account balance.

The aim is to keep usage straightforward: one credit for each distinct screened person or organisation, with applicable premium company lookup tariffs shown separately. See How Credits Work for current costs.
